Design elements

  • Kiping icon: A stylized kiping design taken from the reverse design, representing the colorful rice wafers associated with the festival.
  • Design pattern on the border inspired by the decorations used during the Pahiyas Festival.
  • Diamond design (5) on the border — the number of diamonds per coin matches the month’s number
  • Ethnic pattern / banderitas (texture effect)
  • Symbols of harvest — colorized harvest elements are included to represent thanksgiving, abundance, and the agricultural roots of the festival.
  • Microlettering — the coin includes microlettering that reads “PAHIYAS LUCBAN.”

Reverse
The symbols and elements of the twelve Philippine festivals are incorporated on the reverse side to create a festive pattern that forms a giant lantern to represent the symbol of the 12th festival.
